How to Make a Seamless Instagram Carousel (Panorama Swipe)

Make a seamless Instagram carousel where one image flows across every slide. Canvas sizes for 2–10 slides, design rules for the seams, and a free tool that splits it for you.

A seamless carousel is one wide image cut into several carousel slides. As people swipe, the picture keeps going, so a landscape, a team photo or a designed graphic reads as one continuous scene instead of separate photos.

It's also called a panorama carousel or a swipeable panorama.

The quick way (2 minutes)

  1. Open the free seamless carousel maker.
  2. Drop in a wide photo. The tool suggests a slide count that keeps most of it.
  3. Choose 4:5, 1:1 or 3:4 slides and click Cut.
  4. Download the ZIP and post the slides in number order: tap + → Post → Select multiple → slide 1 first.

Everything runs in your browser. The photo isn't uploaded anywhere.

Canvas sizes

Each slide is 1080px wide, so the full canvas is 1080 × the number of slides.

Slides4:5 canvas1:1 canvas3:4 canvas
22160 × 13502160 × 10802160 × 1440
33240 × 13503240 × 10803240 × 1440
44320 × 13504320 × 10804320 × 1440
55400 × 13505400 × 10805400 × 1440
66480 × 13506480 × 10806480 × 1440
88640 × 13508640 × 10808640 × 1440
1010800 × 135010800 × 108010800 × 1440

If your photo has a different shape, something gets cropped. A phone panorama is usually much wider than 3 slides, so it'll lose top and bottom unless you use more slides.

If you're building a graphic rather than splitting a photo, set up the canvas from the table above in your design app, then:

  1. Draw guides every 1080px. Those are your seams.
  2. Keep text away from the seams. Leave at least 60px on each side of a guide. Words split across two slides are hard to read.
  3. Cross the seams with shapes, not words. Lines, arrows, a photo or a colour band that runs across the cut is what makes people swipe.
  4. Make slide 1 work alone. It's the only part people see in the feed and the only part on your profile grid. Put the hook there.
  5. Watch the grid crop. The profile grid shows slide 1 at 3:4, which trims about 34px from each side of a 4:5 slide. See the carousel size guide.
  6. Export the full canvas once, then cut it into equal 1080px pieces. Cutting by hand is where alignment errors come from. The seamless carousel maker cuts exact pieces.

Common mistakes

  • Uneven slices. If one slice is 1079px and the next is 1081px, the image jumps at the seam. Always cut equal widths.
  • Different ratios. Instagram crops every slide to the first slide's ratio. All slides must be the same size.
  • Wrong upload order. Select slides in order, left to right. If they're out of order the picture breaks.
  • A face on a seam. It ends up split down the middle on someone's screen. Move people away from the cuts.
  • A landscape or cityscape panorama from a trip.
  • A timeline that runs left to right across the slides.
  • A product line-up, one product per slide on a continuous background.
  • A "before → after" that reveals the change on the last slide.
  • A tutorial where an arrow leads from one step to the next.

Seamless carousels are good for one visual moment. For teaching something (tips, a process, a breakdown of a video), people respond better to clear text slides with one idea each. InstaCarousel writes and designs those for you from a YouTube video, a video file or your notes.
